Tips are handled separately from all other service items in TeamBuyIn. When a job comes in with a tip, it appears as its own line item outlined in green, regardless of whether you're in light or dark mode.

How tips are split by default

Tips default to an even split between every technician on the job, regardless of whether individual technicians are set as commissionable or non-commissionable. This is intentional. Tips are treated independently from commission rules.

Editing a tip split

You can edit how a tip is split the same way you would any other line item. Before making changes, TeamBuyIn will show you a warning that editing tip splits may have legal implications depending on your state. You can proceed past the warning if needed.

How tips appear in exports

When you export your 'Performance Pay' or 'Accounting' report, tips are broken out separately from commissions. You'll see commissions and tips as distinct columns in your export data.
